Phillip Phillips' Debut Album

(Album cover)

Yesterday Phillip Phillips (winner of American Idol season 11) released his debut album  "The World from the Side of the Moon."

I'm listening to it right now on Spotify.  I love the sound of his voice, but so far there hasn't been anything too exciting to me about this album...although I am only on track 5 of 14 (15 if you count the live version of "Home" that is included.)  There haven't been any upbeat catchy tracks...yet.

Phillip is one of those artist like Daughtry in my opinion that never seems to change the tone of their voice, which if you read this blog often, you know I'm not a fan of. I like when the artist changes it up a little with every track.

What I've heard of Phillips' album is very laid back and calming.  There has yet to be a track that I have been amazed with.

Right now a tune entitled "Drive Me" is on, it is track number 8.  I really like this one.  It is the only one so far that has grabbed my attention.

If you are someone who likes slow, calming jazzy type music, (ie: Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, Adele or Michael Buble) you will probably really enjoy this album.  Whereas if you are like me and would rather listen to hard rock and punk music (ie: Crossfade, Pop Evil, Green Day or The Offspring) then "The World from the Side of the Moon" is mostly likely not the album for you.

The album is over now.  I only like 2 of the 14 tracks.  I don't think those are very good odds.  As I mentioned earlier I like "Drive Me" the other one I like is "Home" but to be honest that's not really saying much because that was the first single off of this album and it is beginning to become overplayed. Personally I don't see this album as one that is worth buying.

I was hoping to like this album more than I do.  Oh well.  Don't just take my word for it though...go give the album a listen for yourself.  Feel free to tell me if you like/or dislike it.  I would like to know your opinion on it.

Doodlebug Comes To Visit

Doodlebug came to visit today.  Brook and I babysat her while her mommy was in a meeting.  This was her first time in our new place.  She loved it, I did too...because for the first time I got to feel like a real aunt.  What I mean by that is from day one I've lived with her and most aunts probably don't get that chance.  In a way I kinda felt like a second mother to her if you get what mean.  Now I get to see what it's like to have her come visit/stay the night in my own house.

At the same time I miss not being able to be with her all day everyday, since that's basically the way it has been for the last four years.  We had fun.  We watch Spongebob and then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...while eating mixed berry (strawberry and blueberry) muffins.  Doodlebug help Brook make them; she decided it would be a good idea to put sprinkles in the batter....I have to admit I was skeptical of this at first, since sprinkles are normally associated with cupcakes, not muffins.  Turns out little Doodlebug might just be on to something cause it actually tasted awesome.  Now I don't know if I am ever going to want to eat muffins without sprinkles mixed in with the batter ever again.

After her TV shows were over and the muffins were gone Brook and Doodlebug went to the park while I stayed home and took a little nap.  When Doodlebug came back from the park Brook and I taught her how to play Cooking Mama on Wii...she loved it!

In other news I'm obsessed with "¡DOS!" by Green Day now.  I bought it Friday and I can't stop listening to it.  Once I get "¡TRE!"and the Green Day box set in December I'm going to do a post reviewing each album and letting you know my favorites from all of them.  I think that will be a good topic to go off of for a while.  I'll do a separate post for each album.  I believe their will be 12 whenever "¡TRE!" is released.  So keep a look out for those post that will be coming after Christmas.

A picture from my Instagram, I you don't already follow me on there, what are you waiting for go do it. @laurenmikael is my username, if you couldn't tell from the photo above. :)

After Doodlebug left Brook made homemade hot chocolate and we rented Katy Perry's: Part Of Me.  I really enjoyed it.  I guess you could say I have a new found respect for her now.  I mean I liked her before I watched it, but now I like her more as a person...not only as a musician.

After the movie was over Brook invited a friend I had never met before of and we all just talked for a while and ate french toast.  He was really awesome.

I would have to say today was great from start to finish.  Hope yours was just as good.

They Made Him Go to Rehab...

We finally have internet and cable  Got it yesterday. Can't believe I went two without it.  I wasn't really missing TV, cause I just watch everything through apps on my iPad these days, I watched two 30 minute shows (The Middle, and Suburgatory) and turned the TV off.

If it was up to me we wouldn't even have cable, since pretty much everything can be watched over the internet...

On Tuesday, November 13th, Green Day released ¡DOS! (The 2nd of 3 new albums) ¡UNO! was released in September and ¡TRÉ! will be released on December 11th.

I have a list of artist and/or bands I want to see live...first band on that list has always been Green Day...but I guess I'm gonna have to wait a little longer now since Billie Joe went to rehab and Green Day cancelled all of their tour dates for the rest of this year and 2013.

Someone had told me what happened at the iHeartRadio Festival (which is what lead Billie Joe to rehab) but I hadn't actually seen what happened until a few minutes ago.

Basically what happened is Green Day was preforming and Billie Joe was planning on playing some new material, but was told that the set had been cut short and he only had one minute left before they were going to let Usher preform.  Watch the video to see how it all went down...

(His "freak out" as everyone is calling it starts at the 3 minute mark...if you want to skip ahead.)

Personally I agree with Billie Joe on this one.  I mean they are fucking Green Day, they have been around a lot longer than Usher and I believe they deserve much more respect than that   If anyone's set was cut short it should have been Usher's, so that Green Day could have had more time.

1: They have a lot more hit songs than Usher does.

2: They are truly talented, and the shows they put on are about the music...not really cool  dance moves; oh sorry what I meant to type there was LAME.

3. From everything I've heard the only good part about this festival was the fact that Green Day was there, and that they are the ones who drew in an audience.

4. Notice how everyone was cheering as Billie Joe got mad? Everyone enjoyed it, because they were probably mad too.

I don't even see why he had to go to rehab over this...hello, he smashed a guitar on stage during a show...that's an iconic rockstar move right there, and so what if he cursed, he was mad...Green Day has explicit lyrics in a numerous amount of their songs. (and I mean come on...admit it, when you get mad most of you guys probably throw a few cuss words out there.)

As I was watching this video, the whole time I was thinking "Yeah, Billie Joe, tell them how you feel; get mad!" I was glad he did it. Cause it made me mad too.

Since I haven't had internet I haven't had a chance to really give ¡DOS! a good listen...but I will tell you that ¡UNO! might just be my favorite album they have ever made...so far anyway.

Oh and I'm really excited because I'm getting Green Day's entire collection (well, minus ¡DOS! and ¡TRÉ!) for Christmas.

...and yes the title of this post was inspired by "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse.  Here is the Official Music Video:

Now that I've written all of this I am seeing reports that say a statement was issued saying that Green Day apologized for what happened; and their set was never cut short, and they were given the amount of time they were suppose to have had all along.  I don't believe that though, because that was probably just the record label trying to cover themselves, labels and other companies and/or people seem to do that a lot.

Just Checking In...

Hey guys...

I know I haven't been on in a while, just wanted to tell you where I've been.  Brook and I  finally moved into an awesome apartment in Little Rock on November 1st. We love it! It's so nice. We don't have internet or TV yet; we are working on getting that sorted out today. Hopefully we'll have it soon, cause I'm addicted to the internet and I'm about to go crazy if I don't get it back soon.

Luckily Starbucks is right down the road from us, so that's where we are now.  Mooching off their WiFi and enjoying a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

I sold Eddie to a nice family that lives a few hours away. It was really hard letting him go, I know he is better off with his new family though.  They keep me updated on how is he is adjusting on Facebook. He's doing great, loves his new family and they love him as well.  They bought him some new toys and he is really enjoying them.

I really miss him.  I cried like a little baby as his new family came to get him.  I'm crying now just thinking about him.  I miss having a pet.

There is a stray cat that has been hanging around my parents house for the last few weeks. As soon as I can I am going to bring her to Little Rook to live with me.

A few months ago. I was praying and asked God for a cat.  I couldn't decide if I wanted a black or white cat...a few weeks ago this little sweet darling started hanging around.  So now I feel that she was sent specifically to me.  She's black and white (as you can see.)  Since I couldn't decide he gave me a mixture of both.  HE is pretty awesome like that!

I've named her Winter.  I name my animals after my favorite rockstars (Eddie after Eddie Sloan the lead singer of Crossfade....Winter; after brothers Ronnie (lead singer) and Randy Winter (guitarist) of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.)

Halloween with a Cowgirl

Can't believe it's Halloween again already; this year seems to have gone by so fast.

Brook and I are moving tomorrow. I'm really excited.  I found Eddie a new home earlier today...I'm going to miss him but I know he'll be better off.

Doodlebug dressed up as a cowgirl to go trick or treating tonight, she looked so cute!

I haven't really taken many photos lately, it felt good to be behind the camera again.

I've decided to do another 365 in 2013, and since I flaked out on my 52 Weeks Inspired by Song Lyrics this year, I'm going to try to do one photo a week based on song lyrics as part of my 365.

I hope all of you are having a great Halloween!

Pixies and Stuff.

I don't really know what to blog about, but I haven't posted in a while, so I figured I should post a little something.

This post is most likely going to be filled with lots of random things.

Brook and I finally found the perfect apartment and we will hopefully be moving within the next week.

I have decided to give my Sheltie Eddie away and get a kitten instead, now I just gotta find him a good home.  I love him so much, but a cat would be much easier for me to take care of on my own.

I never filmed that YouTube video that I told you I was going to in my last post.  I will eventually.  Maybe.

I haven't been to a show since September 7th...when I saw Bowling For Soup.  It's driving me crazy; I need one so bad...

I was supposed to go see The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus do a show with 10 Years, but that one got cancelled out of nowhere; which I was really upset about because I had been looking forward to that one for months.

I got my hair cut and gave it all to Locks Of Love.  I have a pixie cut now.  I really like it.  I've never had one before.

Here is a picture from my Instagram (@laurenmikael) I haven't taken any other pictures of my hair yet.  I'll take a better quality shot soon.

I got a new candle the other day at TJ Maxx called Caramel Fudge Brownies.  It is made by the brand For Every Body.  I love it. It smells so good!

I took a picture of it today while I was burning it for the first time.  I wanted to get a shot before the "caramel" melted and the candle didn't look pretty anymore.

Such a Smart Little Doodlebug

Today we dropped Doodlebug off to visit her Nana for a few days.  On the way there she decided to say the Pledge Of Allegiance...I didn't even know she could do that yet. Such a smart baby girl!

After we dropped her off with Nana my mom and I went shopping.  We went to MAC and Ulta. I'm excited, because I got something from the new Marilyn Monroe collection.    I think I'm going to film a haul video to show you what I got tomorrow.   My first "real" YouTube video, gotta say I'm a little nervous about it.

"...You Never Will Take My Honey Bun Away"

Hey guys!

Lately I've been thinking a lot more about becoming more of a vlogger on YouTube and posting videos more than just live performances from all the shows I go see.   So tonight when Doodlebug decided to randomly start singing I recorded it and put it on my YouTube channel.  It's only 21 seconds long, but super cute! Check it out!

"You Are My Sunshine" performed by Doodlebug:

Oh and to explain the honey bun part at the end...she and her mommy and been singing "Cuppy Cake Song" earlier and I guess she just got a little mixed up.

"Cuppy Cake Song" by it's original artist Amy Castle (1994)

Weird thing is McKynley's (Doodlebug) last name is Castle only hers is spelled Kastl.

As I had mentioned I want to start doing more on YouTube...just filming random things that happen throughout my day, makeup/clothing hauls; album reviews, and maybe instead of just blogging about shows I go to I can do videos and tell you about them...I think that would be more exciting to do rather than writing about them.

Yoc can go subscribe to my channel by clicking  here.

Also the other day I found a video on my computer while I was backing up my phone of Pop Evil performing "100 in A 55" that I took when I saw them for the first time in 2011 touring with Crossfade.

There are Crossfade videos over there too from when I saw them on June 19th 2012.

Hey Lauren Got a Samsung Galaxy S3

Thursday I went to Best Buy and got a new phone.  Samsung Galaxy S3.  I wanted the red one, but they said that one is only available online so I got white instead.  At Best Buy they will buy your old phone from you.  My two year contract was up.  If your contract is up and you buy the phone straight from AT&T it will cost you $199.  At Best Buy it only cost $149.

I ended up only paying $25 for the Samsung Galaxy S3, since my old phone was in such good shape.   So I totally recommend that you buy your phones at Best Buy you can save a lot of money that way.

Thursday felt a bit like Christmas.  I bought an iPad in January and bought a 2 year warranty for it.  Normally I don't buy warranties on anything, but I am really glad I did this time.  sometime during last week my iPad screen got shattered,  when I was at Best Buy Thursday they gave me a new iPad because my warranty was still good.  I am protecting this one with my life, because I don't have warranty on it.

I love the Samsung Galaxy S3.  I was getting bored with the iPhone.  Everbody has one...and I have an iPad and iPod Touch which are all basically the same, so I just wanted to try something different.  At first I was afraid I was going to miss my iPhone; but honestly I don't, and after having a Samsung Galaxy S3 I don't see why anyone would want an iPhone.

I love the camera on it.  I haven't taken many pictures with it yet, but I have played around with it a little.  I love all the different settings the camera has.

This is a picture of Eddie I took using my phone today.  I did change the colors of the photo with Instagram though.

I also love how if you have a song on your phone you can use it as a ringtone.  I bought "Hey Lauren" by Rookie Of The Year from iTunes using my iPhone earlier this year and since I use iCloud all the songs that were on my iPhone got transfered to my new Galaxy automatically. So now every time I get a call I hear this:

"Hey Lauren" by Rookie Of The Year (Official Music Video)

Which is very fitting for me to use as a ringtone seeing as my name Lauren and it says hey (as in hey you're phone is ringing...answer it.) it doesn't say that in the song but whatever.

Change of Plans...

It seems I have ran out of photo storage on my blog again...so I can't show you the makeup look that I promised in my post yesterday.

This has happened to me once before and Blogger told me that I needed to purchase more photo space before I could put any more photos in any of my post, but then one day that went away and I was able to without paying for more space, so I don't really know what happened with that.

Blog post without pictures are boring to me and I'm a photographer, so photos are a very important part of this blog, eventually I will buy more space, but for now we're gonna have to just stick with words...oh how fun!; No.  I don't ever really know what to talk...err umm  I guess I mean write about without pictures.  They are what I draw my inspiration from.

So we'll have to just wait and see what I can come up with.

My First Time at Ulta (Nail Polish Haul)

This week Ulta Beauty opened in Little Rock.  I am so excited that we finally have one.

I am pretty much obsessed with YouTube.  Mainly with watching Beauty Gurus.  All the gurus I watch are always talking about how they shop at Ulta.  It's such a cool store they have basically anything related to beauty.  They carry drugstore brands (such as Maybelline, and Revlon) as well as higher end brands (such as Tarte, Urban Decay, and Benefit.)

They have nail polish, perfumes, candles, shampoo...everything!  I love it!

Yesterday my Mom and I went to check out the new (to Little Rock) store.  It was happiness overload for both of us...at first we didn't know where to begin.

We decided to look at NYX first...it's one of our favorite brands and you can't find it anywhere but Ulta or online (that I know of)  I got a blue retractable eyeliner (in the shade Blue Eyes.)

We then went over to the nail polish and I found a color that I have been searching for for months now.  Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in the shade Pacific Blue.

I saw DulceCandy87 wearing this in one of her YouTube videos (click there to go to her channel) and I knew I had to have it.   I looked everywhere, Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Drug Emporium; none of them had it.  they didn't even have a spot for it on their shelves, it's not just like they were all sold out of it.

I knew Ulta would have it, they have every color you could imagine.  Especially since ours had just opened the day before.

It was the last one they had.  I was so happy to have finally found it.  They had a deal going on where if you buy one Sally Hansen product you can get another half price.  So I also got Coral Reef.

I don't normally like pink-ish colors, but I'm wearing this on my nails right now and I love it!

Ulta had their brand of nail polish on sale too so I got three of them.

Mint Condition (A light mint green)

Little Black Dress (Black with a slight shimmer)

I love black polish; 99% of the time it's what I have on my nails.  The brand I have been using (Sur) I love it, it is the best black polish out there in my opinion, but I've only ever found it at the nail salon in my hometown.   My bottle is running on empty so I decided to pick up Little Black Dress it has just the right amount of shimmer.  The black is still hardcore, but if you look closely you can see glitter.

I've been looking for the perfect yellow polish for a long time...and I think this may be it.  Every yellow I have tried has been the color of banana pudding, or had an orange tint; or neon like a highlighter. If I did find one I thought would be good it would turn out to be watery and very sheer.  I haven't actually worn this one yet but I swatched it on my nail at the store yesterday and it seems to be exactly what I've been wanting.  A true opaque yellow.

I also got some lipsticks...which I'll post about tomorrow, along with a look I created using the Urban Decay Smoked Palette and a few of the products I bought at Ulta.

Maybe Chuck E. Isn't So Scary After All...

So the whole "blog everyday during August" thing didn't work out.  Oh well.

There have been a lot of things that I have been meaning to post about lately:

- The fact that on August 14th Ryan Star was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  JAY LENO...people JAY FREAKIN' LENO.  Ahh I am so happy for Ryan.  He totally deserves all the attention he has been receiving lately.    I found out about Ryan in April of 2009, when I saw him open for David Cook.

- We (my cousin Brook and I) have decided to wait a few more months before we move to Little Rock, because everything was feeling really rushed and we were both getting really stressed by it.

- Aranda got signed to Wind Up Records. (That's a really good label)...yay! I'm really happy for them, they are so amazing!

- A week ago today I saw Bowling For Soup at Juanita's.

-It was amazing!

-My lovely friends Boom The Wheel opened for them.

-I'm seeing My Darkest Days on September 24th.

-I'm really really excited about seeing them, because this will be my first time.

-The best show is coming up on October 9th...The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus with 10 Years (Two of my favorite bands EVER!)

-Here's this weeks Photo of the week:

"Found Relief in a Knife, the Blood Flows As She Cries"

Song: "The Way She Feels"

Artist: Between The Trees

(Official Music Video)

This week is suicide awareness week, so this seemed to be a fitting photo to take.

-My sister wrote "Love" on my arm, one day I want to get this as a tattoo.

-Oh and one more thing....Chuck E. Cheese got a makeover. He's now a rockstar...no for real, he is.  Jeret Reddick (lead singer of Bowling For Soup) is his new voice.  Yay! I don't have to be afraid of that damn rat anymore, cause you know I love my rockstars!

On the left: Creepy Chuck E. On the right: New awesome, non-creepy, rockstar Chuck E.

Here's the new commercial:

Back to the Rock

It's been a while.

Things have been pretty crazy lately. I'm finally getting to move back to Little Rock, which I'm super excited about.  At the beginning of September.  Finding a place and making arrangements though has been very stressful for me.  I'm just ready to be done with it all.

I still haven't decided which song I'm going to choose for my 52 Weeks this week...gotta work on that.

But...here is last week's:

Inspired by "Lace and Leather"

By: Britney Spears

"French fingertips, red lips; bitch is dangerous"

La La the Sock Monkey

Oops! It's been a few days.  Oh, well; I've still written more this month than I normally do.

Oh, and remember how I said The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus photo was my first Explore...it wasn't I just didn't know at the time.  It was my second.

This was the first:

Mimi and Doodlebug walking around Little Rock on Mimi's birthday.

If you have a Flickr and want to see if any of your photos have made it to Explore just go to this site

So, remember the sock monkey? Well I decided I was going to start using it as a photo prop, since Doodlebug buried it at the bottom of her toy box and it had been there for year

I had it sitting on my bed in plain sight and she walks in my room and screams "MY SOCK MONKEY!" like she actually loved the thing.

Damn...there goes my photo prop.  I've always wanted a sock monkey but they can be a little expensive for a doll so I've never bought one.  To be honest I was happy she hated the thing (apparently not anymore) because that meant I got a free sock monkey.

I meant to kind of hide it because I figured she would steal him from me; but she came home an hour earlier than she was supposed to and I hadn't had the chance yet.

Anyway I've decided to buy this one:

(This is not my photo...got it from Google)

AAAAC-ZAlWwAAAAAAT0ZDA.jpg (300×300)

Her name is La La (That's what Doodlebug calls me)  and she's purple  (mine and Doodlebug's favorite color.)

So, basically, I have to get her, it's like she is begging to be owned by me.

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

Today my photo inspired by "Face Down" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus made it into Flickr Explore.

This was my first time to have a photo in Explore.  I was really happy and honestly shocked about it.  I've been a Flickr member since 2010 and had always wanted to be featured in Explore (cause I mean honestly...who wouldn't want to be?)

I guess it's kind of like waiting for water to boil.  If you stand there and watch it the entire time, it's going to take forever...I used to be sort of obsessed with trying to get my photos into Explore.  I would upload a photo and see that it got a lot of views/favorites/comments and think "Oh, that's totally going to be Explored." They never were.  I gave up on wanting it to happen and then out of no where it did.

The thing is, I always thought that the photo had to have a lot of views/comments or favorites to be considered for Explore, but this photo made it with only having around 30 views and 2 comments and maybe 1 favorite at the time when it was added into Explore.

So I guess it really does just have to be an interesting photo and views and whatnot don't really matter as much.  Yay!

Week 7 of 52

"Cover up with makeup in the mirror, tell yourself it's never gonna happen again."

Song: "Face Down"

Artist: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

I've wanted to take this photo for a really long time now.  I had originally planned on doing it as part of my 365 project last year...but that never seemed to work out. RJA is one of my favorite bands of all time.

Just so you know I don't really have a black eye, it's just makeup.

My Day With Doodlebug

Today Doodlebug came over because her mommy had to go to a meeting and then she and Kyle went to see Justin Moore play at Magic Springs.

We had a fun day...

We cuddled and watched Crossfade, Ryan Star and SafetySuit music videos on my iPad.  She loves watching "Jeremy" (SafetySuit) We have to watch their music video for "Stay" over and over again when she's here.
(Official Music Video):

I can't even count how many times I've seen this video, we've watched it pretty much everyday since 2010.

As much as I love SafetySuit, it does get a bit annoying to watch the same video so much, so I finally got her to start watching "Right Now" by Ryan Star.

(Official Music Video)

She loves to sing a long and dance like the cheerleaders.

Her favorite video lately has been "Prove You Wrong" by Crossfade.

(Official Music Video)

I have no problem with watching this a million times a day.  I've been a Crossfade fan since I was 14 (I'm 22 now) so I'm pretty sure it's Impossible for me to get tired of them.

I have all of their albums on a shuffled repeat in my room 24/7. I can't sleep unless their on (well, unless I have a headache then I sleep with SafetySuit on.)  I can't stand complete silence, either the TV or music has to be on at all times.

Doodlebug loves the "silly cartoon guy" in this video.  She has recently really started liking Les.  She wants a light up guitar like his.  Every time it's his part in a video she gets really excited and says his name over and over.  She told me today  "I keep asking for a guitar like Les' and you still haven't got me one!" Silly girl.

I think we might just have ourselves a rockstar in the making.  Maybe she'll be the next Lizzy Hale (singer of Halestorm)

She also loves to watch Crossfade's "Killing Me Inside" because she likes the lights (and Les apparently) she told me this morning that I need to take her to see him because she wants to meet him, because she hasn't yet.  I told her I would love that and I will one day.

(Official Music Video)

Oh and somehow she started talking about Joplin (the cat we had that died in December) and she said:

"When you die, I'm going to scream and call Jesus with Papa's phone and tell him to bring Lala back; because I love you"

It was so adorable, and almost made me cry.

After watching all of these videos a few times each we played with her new Barbie's.

Then Papa made Chicken nuggets and homemade waffles for dinner.  After dinner we watched her favorite show...Spongebob Squarepants.  She also likes Drake and Josh; and Good Luck Charlie.  When she got here this morning she showed me her pigtails and said "my hair is like Charlie's"...just as she does everytime her hair is in pigtails.

We watched these videos again, and then it was time for bed.  I love getting to spend all day with my baby girl, I hardly ever get the chance to do that anymore since she goes to preschool now.

It's Been a Pretty Good Day

August Break- Day 3:

I got to see my Doodlebug today, seems like I haven't gotten to see her much lately.

We had a good time; that is until Mimi made her some Ovaltine and put it in a Dora the Explorer cup; which caused McKynley to have a complete and total meltdown.  (because she wanted to drink out of a sippy cup instead of a big girl cup.) She still doesn't understand that 4 year olds are too big for sippy cups.  I have never seen her throw a tantrum that big in my life...all because of a stupid little plastic cup.

Today my sister and I went shopping.  We went to Belk and Target.  I had good luck today; at Belk I got $80 worth of clothes for $50.

Then we went to the Starbucks inside of Target and ordered a Venti Cookie Crumble and they were out of Venti cups so they upgraded mine to a Trente, which is the biggest size they make.

I got a cute little purple purse made by Mossimo from Target for $12  I love Mossimo.  They have awesome colored shorts and jeans.

I also got an New York Color nail polish in the shade High Line Green. I love it   I don't have my own picture of it, but if you want to see a picture I found on Google click here

August Break: Day 2

My orange and yellow Nike Low Dunks, definitely one of my favorite pairs of shoes that I own.

It's That Time Again...

It's August...

Which means it's that time again, time for August Break.  This is my third one and I'm pretty excited about it. Now I know one of  the main points of August Break is to kind of take a break from blogging in a sense, but since there aren't any rules I'm going to look at it this year as a reason for me to blog more.

'Cause let's face it; I am pretty lazy at updating this thing sometimes (Ok, fine...a lot of the time)

I'm going to challenge myself  to post on here everyday this month.

Not Sure What to Title This

Tomorrow night I'm going to see Rookie of the Year again.  This will be my second time.  Not gonna lie I'm pretty excited about it.  If you missed my post about seeing Rookie of the Year for the first time, don't worry you can read it here.

I finally put the photos from that show on Facebook today, if you don't already you can like Lauren Mikael Photography on Facebook here

I've already decided what song I'm going use for week 4 of my 52 weeks project, and I think I'm going to take it on Wednesday.  I thought about telling you which song I chose, but then realized it might be better left as a surprise; so you'll just have to wait and see.

Oh, and I uploaded the Crossfade videos to my YouTube channel, which means I'm one step closer to posting about that show...hopefully I can get it up within the next few days, since it's almost been a month since I saw them.

Hope you are having a good day.

Week 3/52 "Juliet's Crying, Well Now She's Realizing Love Can Be Filled with Pain and Distrust"

"Juliet's Crying, Well Now She's Realizing Love Can Be Filled with Pain and Distrust"

Song: "One For The Razorbacks"

Artist: Green Day

Billie Joe Armstrong (lead singer) used to date a girl from Arkansas (hence the title of this song.)

Being from Arkansas, and a huge Green Day fan...I felt I should include this song into my 52 Weeks: Inspired by Song Lyrics project.

I'm still alive...in case you were wondering.

A week ago today I saw Crossfade.  Now I go to a lot of shows, and I see a lot of bands, I but gotta say every time I go to a show I wish it was to see Crossfade .  They are my favorite band of all time. You might be thinking to yourself "who is Crossfade?" I get that a lot when people ask me who my favorite band is.  Trust me you know who they are (that is unless you lived under a rock in 2004.) That's when their song "Cold" took over the airwaves. The song was everywhere.  Everyone loved it.  It's one of those songs you never get sick of no matter how many times you hear it.

"Cold" by Crossfade (Official Music Video)

99% of the time after I have the "you know who they are" conversation with people and turn this song on for them they  say: "Oh, yeah I remember that song...I love it!"

A lot of people seem to think that they were one hit wonders: NOT TRUE

Remember "Colors"...?

and "Invincible"

Click here to watch the official music video (this is the only link to this video that works, everywhere else the video is corrupted or I get a message saying that the video is not viewable in my country) which is totally stupid...they are an American band and I am trying to watch it in America; why is it not viewable in their own country?  You can't even buy the video on iTunes (can't buy the "Colors" video either)

It's one of my favorite videos of their's too, so it really sucks that I can't own it.  I mean Ed has a magic truck in this video.  It burst into flames and then every piece of the trucks falls perfectly back into place and he drives away in it.  That's pretty cool, plus he looks really cute.   You should watch.

I was gonna ahead and tell you about the show in this post...but then I realized that I'm not done editing the pictures and I haven't put the videos I took on YouTube yet, those two things take a while, and I'm lazy, Therefore, you're going to have to wait.

Oh and so far I've only showed you old Crossfade songs, but they've got new ones so here they are:

"Killing Me Inside" (Official Music Video) off their latest album We All Bleed  (released in 2011)

"Prove You Wrong" (Official Music Video) also off of their latest album We All Bleed

and then we have their latest single "Dear Cocaine"off of the album We All Bleed (which doesn't have a video yet...but once it does I'll be sure to let you guys know. )

Here is an awesome acoustic performance of "Dear Cocaine" I love it and watch it all the time.

You can find Crossfade on iTunes (they have 3 albums as of right now Crossfade, Falling Away, and We All Bleed not to be confused with this weird band from the UK who also is named Crossfade.  (Not to be rude but they suck.)

You can also find Crossfade on Twitter: @crossfademusic

'Like' them on Facebook as: Crossfade Official

Nickelodeon is Stalking Me

So, I just watched this new show on Nick @ Nite called Hollywood Heights.  The main character's name is Loren and she is in love with this rockstar named Eddie.

My name is Lauren (pronounced the same)

One of my favorite bands is Hawthorne Heights

I love Eddie from Crossfade.

Loren's entire room is purple (walls, bedspread...pretty much everything)

My favorite color is purple.

Loren has a red Sony Vaio laptop

I have a pink Sony Vaio laptop

Loren paints her nails black.

Pretty much the only color I paint my nails is black.

I have a turquoise/silver lamp on my bedside table.

Loren has that same exact lamp on her bedside table.

All of that is just in the first episode (you can download the first 5 episodes on iTunes for free right now.)

I've watched two so far.  At the beginning of the second one Loren is at his show and he is holding her hand singing to her.

Eddie sang part of "Cold" to me... the part that goes "You are the antidote that gets me by, something strong like a drug that gets me high" then later during the show he held my hand...and it wasn't like most of the time when the artist kind of swipes the fan's hand...it was like full on holding, I literally remember thinking "is he ever going to let go of my hand?"

Anyway this show is blowing my mind, it's kinda freaking me out how close it is to my life.  Maybe Nickelodeon really is stalking me.  I'm waiting for episode 3 to finish downloading right now.  Hollywood Heights officially starts airing on the 20th 18th of this month.  Which is the day after  before I get to see Eddie again.  I'm so excited; I haven't seen Crossfade since August.

What I've seen so far of Hollywood Heights has been pretty good.  You should check it out if you get the chance.  It has it's sort of cheesy moments; but other than that I'm kind of digging it...maybe it's not cheesy to a pre-teen/teenager and it's just the fact that I'm a 22 year old and I'm watching a show aired on Nickelodeon.

Here's a list of random things I've been meaning to tell you....

Aranda opened for Saving Abel tonight and I couldn't be there.  This is the first time I've missed Aranda in years, so I'm pretty sad.  At least they weren't the headliners.

As you know (well probably) Crossfade is coming on June 19th...I'm so excited, you don't even know how happy am about this...so happy that I don't even have words.

SafetySuit is coming back.

I can't go, because Crossfade is coming on that same night, so I'm really sad about that...cause Crossfade is basically my new version of SafetySuit (ie: the band I listen to at all times and love almost more than anything)

I've thought about this though and decided Crossfade would be the better choice, simply because Crossfade is going to be at Juanita's, and SafetySuit is gonna be at an outside venue with Mike Sanchez, Candlebox and Daughtry (so basically the same show I saw when I saw SafetySuit in March...except Candlebox) I LOVE Candlebox; but  I've seen them twice so not really a big deal.

It's probably going to be really crowded, and I probably wouldn't be able to see anyways, whereas seeing Crossfade at Juanita's...I'll be able to get my usual spot.

I went through some old photos:

Doodlebug hunting Easter eggs; Easter 2010

My 2nd cousin Braxton hunting Easter eggs; Easter 2011

Doodlebug's first real chance to play in snow; January 2011.

Two of the photos I took of James Durbin got turned into pins on Pintrest today (not by me) I thought that was pretty cool..

My School Boys released their first official music video.

"7 Minutes in Heaven" by School Boy Humor:

I recently learned that Leigh Kakaty (lead singer of Pop Evil) is also a rapper (Kakaty) I tried to find a YouTube video of one of his songs but I couldn't, so if you want to hear them go to Spotify and type in Kakaty, they have all his rap albums.

Well, that's all for this post.  Oh no wait...here is a self portrait I took today:

Vlogger or Blogger...both?

I've been thinking a lot lately about using my YouTube channel to post vlogs of show recaps, instead of just posting recaps on this blog.  I think it would better, especially when I have a lot of shows to go to within a short period of time.  Seems like it would be faster to talk about them in a video and upload a video to my channel and this blog, than to find time to write a blog post about each show.

I think it would be fun to do videos as well as blog post.  Also it would be a good way to attract more traffic to both my blog and YouTube channel.

The show reviews would probably be a lot more interesting, if  they were in video form, it would be more personal, sort of like you and I were having a conversation about the show (or whatever else I'm telling you about) instead of you just reading about what happened

I've been an avid watcher of beauty and style videos on YouTube since the end of 2011.  Everyone I watch makes it look like a lot of fun to be a vlogger and I want to try it out and see how it goes.  Although, I am a little nervous about what people might say about me after they view a video...I've seen a lot of people be mean on there in the comments section, I don't know if I have tough enough skin to not let something get to me if someone were to say something mean, but I guess you don't know until you try.

What do you think, would you be interested in video vlogs from me?

"More Than a Feeling..."

On May 11th I saw The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus at a venue in Little Rock that I had never been to before; Downtown Music.

As soon as I got there I saw a friend that I haven't seen since we graduated high school (in 2008.) He is a security guard there. I'm glad I got to see him.  I hardly ever get the chance to see people I went to school with anymore.

My friends belair. opened the show. I was excited to see them...it had been a while (October.)  They had also opened for RJA last year when I saw them on May 2nd.  They did awesome.  The crowd loved them.

After belair. was Se7en Sharp, a local band that I saw for the first time in March when they opened for Aranda.    Granted I don't remember that show (that can be blamed on all of the 'special' cranberry juice that I had that night...haha oops!) So I was happy to really get the chance to see them this time.

Before they started their set, Phil (the lead singer) said he recognized me from the show with Aranda and gave me a Se7en Sharp shirt.

They were awesome.  I know you're probably like: Yeah, yeah...she says that about every band she sees. I do say that about most of the bands I see, but it's not because I want to be nice and make sure I don't hurt anyone's feelings in case a member of the band sees the post I made about them.  Some bands do read my blog, they've told me.  Anyway...it's because they really are awesome, if they are not I will tell you.   Believe me I've seen my fair share of bands that suck; I just haven't gotten around to writing those post yet.

Back to Se7en Sharp...

Something about their music/the way Phil moves around on stage reminds me of Phillip Phillips from the current season 11 winner of American Idol.  All that and the fact that his name is Phil.  Which is cool, cause I love   Phillip Phillips.  Definitely going to see them as often as I can.

After Se7en Sharp it was time for Red Jumpsuit. RJA was the first band I ever liked (well, if you don't count all those childhood bands like *Nsync, Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys.) I love Ronnie's voice, it's so unlike anyone else's. It's always really exciting to see them, because they don't seem to come to Little Rock very often.

I took video of "Your Guardian Angel" and it actually turned out really well.  That's one of my favorite songs by them.

This was my 3rd time seeing them.  They always put on a great show and I really hope they come again soon.

After the show was over I went to the merch tables and talked to Wesley (singer of Belair) for a while and bought an RJA shirt.  Their merch girl is Ronnie's wife, she's really awesome, and so nice.  After getting merch I went outside to wait for my ride home.  That's when I got introduced to RJA's new drummer Timothy Ross.

Phil was outside too...talked to him for quite a while, he's pretty awesome.  Then a lady asked me if I had met RJA yet.  (you had to have V.I.P passes to meet this time.)  I told her that I didn't have a pass and she told me to follow her.  I don't know who she was, but I was very happy that she let me meet them.  It wasn't my first time though, I met them when I saw them last year..

Staci (Ronnie's wife) gave me The Hell or High Water EP when I was at the merch table, so I had them sign it.

Kat (photographer for 100.3 The Edge) took a photo of Ronnie and I.  I also asked her to take a photo with my camera, because it takes a few days before photos are uploaded to The Edge's website.

Kat's camera:

My camera:

The tattoo on his arm is Mark 8:36:

For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?

Mark 8:36 inspired The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' song "Reap" off of their latest album Am I The Enemy

Ronnie asked if I went to a lot of shows and of course as you all know the answer was: Yes, all the time.

He said he likes going to shows too and asked what my favorite bands were: Crossfade, Pop Evil and, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (and no, I wasn't just saying that because that's his band...it's true they are one of my favorites)

Then he asked my which RJA songs are my favorite: I said I couldn't really pick cause I love them all (he said that was a good answer...haha) but then I started naming off a few: "Your Guardian Angel", "Cat and Mouse", "Damn Regret", "False Pretense" and "Face Down" which he said were all good ones.

I'm always curious to see who my favorite artist like to listen to so I asked him who his favorite bands/artist were: Pink Floyd, Boston, Peter Gabriel

I said I had heard of all of those, but I couldn't tell you what any of their songs were.  He was shocked at this and asked how old I was: 22.

Then he sang a line from "More Than Feeling" by Boston.  After that I immediately knew who he was talking about.

He also sang a line from a song by one of the other artist that he had mentioned, but I don't know who/what it was...because at the same time someone else beside us started talking pretty loud and I couldn't hear Ronnie.

So I guess you could say I got sang to by Ronnie Winter, which I thought was awesome.  He's a really nice guy...

Ronnie Winter:

Josh Burke

Josh joined RJA last year.  He is 18 years old.  It's a pretty cool story how he became the lead guitarist for The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus:

He was/still is a big RJA fan. He went to a show, arrived during sound check. Ronnie needed to get new strings before the show and asked Josh where the nearest guitar shop was.  Josh and his family gave Ronnie a ride to Guitar Center.  While they were there Josh picked up a guitar and started playing.  Ronnie liked what he heard and now Josh is RJA's lead guitarist.

Believe me Josh is a great guitarist, probably one of the best I've heard.  I think it is awesome how his life was changed just by showing up early to a show...

I always arrive early to shows, mostly because if I get there early I'm the first person there so the staff at Juanita's/or whatever venue the show is at let me in and  I don't have to wait outside for the doors to open, which means I can secure my spot in front row, but also because the bands are setting up the stage at this time and you never know what could happen.

I mean I doubt Josh woke up on that September 19th morning saying to himself "Hey I'm gonna go see RJA tonight and I'm going to become their lead guitarist"

...but that's what happened and that's all because he got to a show early (well that and the fact that he is a kick ass guitarist.)
