Goodbye 2010

There are only a few more hours left in the year 2010.  It was a good year for me, I think it might have even been my favorite year so far.  It was filled with tons of happiness and very little sadness.  I hope 2011 is even better.

I can't wait to see what 2011 brings. I wonder what shows I'll go to this year, hopefully a lot of good ones such as:

Ryan Star, Lovers and Liars, Thriving Ivory, SafetySuit and Small Town Sleeper (expecially Small Town Sleeper, I miss them so much. I haven't seen them since 2008.) Oh and School Boy Humor, but that's pretty much a given that I am going to see them since they live about 10 minutes away from me.

Speaking of School Boy, my sister is actually going to their New Years Eve party tonight...lucky her, I'm a little jealous. Oh well I'm sure I'll see them soon. I don't really have plans tonight, just staying home with Brook and her boyfriend since we aren't 21 yet.

Ohhh, that's one of my  favorite things about 2011. I'll finally be 21 in February. Which means no more of those stupid X's. I get to trade in my X's for a wristband.  Last time I went to see Thriving Ivory, they gave me a wristband without even asking my age; but since I am a good girl I didn't take advanage of the wristband's abilty to let me drink

March 7th, 2009 my friend Jenny and I @ Juanita's when we saw Thriving Ivory (oh and those are M's for minor not X's but you get the point. Normally they put X's.)

Wristband from 12-3-10 when I saw Thriving Ivory @ Juanita's

As for my photography, I have decided to start a 365 project. Starting tomorrow I will take a picture every day for a year. I have always wanted to do this and I think 2011 will be the perfect year for it. I'll take my camera with me everywhere I go.

My last picture of 2010.

McKynley has a new hairstyle, we have been putting her hair up in a little bun for the past few days...I love it, it's so cute!

I hope all of you have a fantastic and safe New Year's. & that 2011 treats you well!

Christmas 2010

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday. I did. Took a lot of photos.  Here is a slideshow if you would like to see them

I used my new 50mm lens to take all of these. I love this lens, I am so glad I bought it.

Black and White Wednesday Thursday: "Oops!...I Did It Again"

Ugh! I totally forgot yesterday was Wednesday. Oops! With Christmas coming up I've been busy and haven't really had much time to take pictures...so you are gonna get an old one today.

I took this photo of my cousin Brook and her boyfriend Donnie in July when we rode a trolly around Little Rock a few days after I got my camera. Click to enlarge.

As most of you probably know, the title of this post came from "Oops!...I Did It Again" by Britney Spears.

"Do You Dream That The World Will Know Your Name?"

On Friday December 3rd my sister Heather and I went to see Thriving Ivory at Juanita's. Everytime I have been to Juanita's I have never had to wait outside to get in. We are always either there super early or we get there after the show has already started and everyone else has already gone in...that is until this time.  It was freezing and the line to get inside was so long it was awful.

We finally got in and there was a nice group of girls that let me be beside them.  It was still front row, just on the side of the stage.  There were a ton of people there...more than had ever showed up for Thriving Ivory before I'm pretty sure.  The first opener was Elise Davis from Little Rock. She has a nice voice, but as I've said before, I'm just not a fan of female singers.  She seemed to be a little socially awkward.

I did get to buy the new lens I wanted for my camera before the show, but since we weren't directly in front of the stage there wasn't good lighting most of the time and this lens does best with natural light instead of flash; so that coupled with the fact that I had only had the lens for about an hour and didn't really have the hang of it yet did not make for good pictures.  Except for the drums and guitar in my new blog header.

After Elise was Lovers and Liars like I said in the post you will be directed to if you click their name I am pretty sure I have a new favorite band.  They are really amazing.  I have been listening to them non-stop since the show.  I'm sad that I didn't go meet them after their set.  I hope they come back really soon, I'll definitely be there when they do.

As excited as I was to see Thriving Ivory again (this was my 3rd time) I honestly didn't want Lovers and Liars' set to be over.

Thriving Ivory was amazing. (As always!) Loved hearing their newest stuff live.  I took videos...sound quailty is good but part of the time you can't see Clayton because a girl's arm is in the way/I was too excited to pay attention to where I was pointing the camera.

"Angels on the Moon" (title of this post came from this song)

"Long Hallway With A Broken Light"

"Where We Belong"

It was an awesome show, can't wait til they come back again.

Black and White Wednesday Thursday: Perfect Timing

Oops! I'm 15 minutes late, it's no longer Wednesday. I was at a Christmas party and just now got home. One day I am actually going post for Black and White Wednesday on the actual day...you wait and see.

Anyways I have the perfect photo for today. It wasn't taken today, but it fits the situation I am in.

You are probably wondering why this photo is the perfect choice for today; well remember how I told you that I pull my hair out? If not then click that link and go read about it now.

Last night as I was trying to go to sleep I started pulling my eyebrows. I couldn't stop and now both of them are basically gone, except for a little patch over each eye.  Perfect timing. (Sarcasm) holidays are coming up and I have to be around family and friends who don't know I pull.  I Googled how long it normally takes for them to grow back and read somewhere that it takes 56 days.

So, I am going to have to wear the hat I am wearing in this photo until they grow back. That way people won't be able to see what I've done. Stupid f***ing Trichotillomania, I hate it! I could just embrace it and go without the hat, but I don't want a repeat of Thanksgiving. I wore the hat to the Christmas party tonight too.  I don't think there is anything else I could do besides wear it.

PS: I'll post the new Thriving Ivory recap on Saturday. It's almost done, all I have left to do is put some videos and photos in.

I'm No Good At Keeping Promises

Ok so I know I said I was going to post my recap of the Thriving Ivory show on Friday...but all of you  should know by now I am horrible at keeping promises when it comes to posting on this blog. I'm sorry about that.  I meant to post a sepia photo for Photo Freak's sepia challenge a few days ago but never found the time.  I love sepia photos, but for some reason hardly ever think to take any that way.

I had more photos I wanted to post, but the image uploader seems to only want me to post this one.Yay it works now.  Jeremy from SafetySuit wrote that on my poster...sadly I don't think he thinks I am a great friend anymore. :(

Every girl on my mom's side of the family makes this face anytime they look in a mirror, I guess we do it in pictures too.  As always click photo to enlarge.

PS: I hope to have the Thriving Ivory post up sometime this week.  Don't hold me to that though ;)

Black and White Wednesday Thursday: Lovers and Liars

If you are a frequent visitor of my blog, you probably noticed I did a little re-designing.  I really like it.  I hope you do too. All but one of the photos in the new header are from the Thriving Ivory show last Friday.  Sorry I haven't written my recap for that show yet.  I'll do it before the week is over.  The other photo is from when I saw Ryan Star in October.

I have decided to start taking part in The Long Road to China's Black and White Wednesday.  I know it is not Wednesday anymore, but if it counts for anything I found out about this project yesterday which was Wednesday...so I am going to go ahead and post one anyway.

When I saw Thriving Ivory on Friday one of the opening acts was a band I had never heard of before; they are called Lovers and Liars.  All I've got to say about them right now is I think I have found another favorite band.  Here is a song of theirs entitled "Nothing Left Here to Burn" I love it!

Trichotillomania, Turkey Day and Black Friday

I haven't written in a while, sorry.  Let's do a recap of Thanksgiving...this year was the first time I ever cooked anything for Thanksgiving dinner.  I made a Dump Cake; Dump Cake is very simple, basically like a cobbler.  Cherry and apple pie fillings with a butter cake mix poured over the top.

I never even ate any of the Dump Cake or much of anything else, because I started crying right in the middle of the meal. My 10 year old cousin tried to pluck her own eyebrows for the first time a few days earlier, which resulted in a small patch of her eyebrows missing.  Her mother noticed as we were eating, she got upset and she along with the rest of the family made jokes about it, saying it looked stupid and made her not look as pretty and other stuff like that.

I started crying when I heard this since I pull my hair out. Most of my family doesn't know about my hair pulling except for two of my cousins, my sister and my parents.  So pretty much everyone else at the table was staring at me as if I were crazy and kept asking me what was wrong.  I didn't tell them.  I figured if they were going to make fun of my cousin like that for having just a few of her eyebrows missing, I didn't even want to know what they would say about me if they knew over half of my eyelashes and eyebrows are gone.

Which means that none of my family reads my blog, because if they did they would know, they always tell me how great of a writer I am...but how would they know if they don't even read what I write.  So anyways to sum it up...I had a pretty crappy Thanksgiving.

Moving on to Black Friday.  This year was also my first year to attend in Black Friday. I have always seen movies and TV shows about how crazy of a day it is; people running into stores as soon as the doors open, trampling over people; sometimes even killing them.  My Black Friday was nothing like that.  Just a bunch of crazy people willing to stand outside a store for hours in the cold so they can catch the good deals.   A lot of people brought their own tents to camp out at the doors.

We (my mom, aunt, cousin, sister and I) started shopping around midnight.  We wanted to eat at IHOP, but when we got there found a note on the door saying they were closed for Thanksgiving.  We then decided to go to Waffle House, I had never been to Waffle House so I was excited.  The place was packed and the service was terrible.  We waited inside by the door for at least 10 or 15 minutes before we found a vacant table.  The table we found had not been cleared off yet from it's last guest, but we figured if we sat there anyway a worker would clear it for us...we were wrong.  They all knew we were sitting there but walked right past us anyway.  We sat there with a dirty table for another 10 or 15 minute before leaving.  No one took our order or bothered to clear the table for us the entire time.

From there we went to JC Penney and shopped for a while.  After that we decided to go to Cracker Barrel.  They were open and they didn't ignore us.  I got a plate of cherry pancakes, they were really good.

Finally we headed home. We got home around 10 am and I went to sleep and slept for practically the whole day.

P.S. I talked my sister into taking me to see Thiriving Ivory  on Friday and I am pretty sure I will be able to get that new lens I was telling you about before then. Yay! I'm excited! :)
