Time to Move...

I have made the decision to move Rockstars and Randomness over to WordPress. I feel like this is a much needed change.

Something I have wanted to do for a long time.

A fresh start.

Hopefully it won't take long to get everything situated  over at WordPress, before I'm offically up and running over there.

The (Phone) Who Died...Wolf

I'm not even gonna talk about how before December started I had fully intended to partake in Blogmas.

Eventually I am going to start really giving my blog the love and attention that it both needs and deserves. (I hope.)

Friday, I decided to take out the trash...cause as an adult that is something you need to and should do; frequently.

So I'm all..."look at me, going outside...taking out the trash.  I'm such an adult and whatever."  When all of sudden

My precious iPhone 6 Plus had brutally found it's way to the pavement beneath me.

In sheer terror I pick up the phone from it's very hard fall.  I quickly notice the chunks missing out of the left hand side of my beloved plus sized phone...

Then, the scrapes and cracks that had also appeared on the glass screen; the glass screen that only moments before had been perfectly  Now it was almost unrecognizable.  As I pressed the home button I saw a rainbow of fuzzy colors dance across both Johnny Stevens' (of Highly Suspect) and my face.   Where before the rainbow had arrived, we were just laughing and having a great time.

My poor phone seems to be much sicker than just a ruined screen unfortunately.

All of this would be much easier for me to handle if only I would have never set my phone to require a password before it will let itself unlock, which I did for the first time ever a few months ago during the summer, because I had started babysitting Doodlebug for the summer, like I do every year.

Only this year she had become even more obsessed with playing on phones and she had started answering my phone without my permission; if she heard it ringing while I was in another room....she would then bring the phone to me, whereever I was and say: "Here LaLa...It's (insert name here)"

Which yes, is sort of sweet of a way. However also very annoying in cases when she had already answered the phone but personally I was not ready to talk to (insert name here) yet or at all.  I guess Doodlebug doesn't know that sometimes people don't answer the phone for a reason.  In her mind if the phone rings it has to be answered.

That being said, iCloud failed to back up anything that wasn't my contacts list or a digital copy of Highly Suspect's new record The Boy Died Wolf  which is a fantastic album so I was happy to see it in my Cloud...but I have that album in so many different forms that I wouldn't have lost it even if I had lost it, you know?

My THOUSANDS of photos and videos that can never be replaced or taken again (most of which had yet to find their way on to Facebook and/or Youtube)...gone; all gone.

My laptop still recognizes my phone, so this made me very excited once I had discovered this news, because I knew all I had to do to get my photos and videos back was to do a manual iPhone sync using iTunes.  From there I would be able to pull the photos/videos off the phone and simply save all of them to my laptop.
YAY!!!  Problem solved.

It would have been, but for the last few months there has/had been the afore mentioned password on my phone because of my sweet little Doodlebug.

If you have a passcode on your phone, then iTunes wants you to type it in on your phone's screen after you connect it to your laptop, and if you don't, it refuses to let you sync your device.

I can not use my phone to type in the code, because my phone's screen is too messed up to even recognize that you are trying to type the password in.

So close, yet so far.

Never again will I EVER put a password on any of my future phones after dealing with all of this shit!!!

So many photos and videos probably lost forever, just because of a stupid 4 number passcode.  Sad day you guys, sad day.

PS: This post title worked out pretty perfectly...seeing as that was the only record left in my iCloud.

The Boy Who Died Wolf

Today The Boy Who Died Wolf the new album from Highly Suspect was released and to be totally honest, I don't think I could be any more excited about this record if I tried.

It's so great.  I've been listening to it all day.  I pre-ordered it a month ago.  Of course I bought the MCID bundle.  You know, that's how I do...I want all the things; all or nothing.

As soon as Highly Suspect had announced that they were releasing a second album, I knew it was going to be amazing.  Everything they do is it was sort of obvious.

Normally when I listen to a new record, I can tell you which track is my favorite, but with The Boy Who Died Wolf  I literally don't know. All 11 songs kick ass.

I've gotta give them major props for "Viper Strike." I love that they are standing up for their opinions and giving zero fucks what other people have to say.  More people, and music should be like my opinion.

"Chicago" is awesome. This song takes you through so many different feelings in just 4 minutes and 24 seconds. All the while showing you the more sensitive side of Highly Suspect.

"Send Me an Angel" shows you a similar piece of them as well.  I dig it.

"Look Alive, Stay Alive" is pretty sweet.  Love the energy of it.  I really like the line " think you're better than everyone...well you're fucking not!"

"Wolf" is so good that I don't really even have words for it...give it (and the entire record) a listen.  It'll be your first of many; trust me.  One of the best lines in this track "...but baby I was born to rock, and now I gotta roll."

"Serotonia" is a song that has been out for quite a while now, no matter how many times I've heard it, with every listen I find myself loving it even more.  The best part is when Johnny mentions slow dancing with Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey...then afterwards he'll bum a cigarette from Cary Grant.

The '60's was...err is my favorite era when it comes to movies.  Breakfast At Tiffany's is my all-time favorite movie.  I was Audrey for Halloween this year. (More on that in a later post.)  Cary Grant, Marilyn, Humphrey Bogart...I love them all!

That's pretty much all I've got to say for now.

To recap:

The Boy Who Died Wolf Buy that mess, seriously...BUY it!

It's amazing.  You can thank me later.

I feel like this has to be done when Highly Suspect is mentioned in any way, so...MCID.

Should Have Started Doing This Sooner

Woah!  Ok, so it has been eight months since my last blog post...oopsie! Haha!

Truth is the end of last year/beginning of this year I was very depressed, like really bad.  Hardly would go anywhere or even bother to get out of bed most days to be honest.

In May things started to get better and the depression "went away."

For the most part I'm very happy now.

I just wanted pop in and say hi!  Also, I wanted to tell you about Ebates.  They pay you to shop online (now even in stores.)  Yep, you read that can get paid to shop.  That's pretty awesome if you ask me.

I've known about Ebates for years now, because other bloggers and through Youtube videos.  Somehow it  just recently occured to me that I should start using Ebates myself.  Wish I would have started sooner!

They pay you anywhere from 1% to 40% back on your purchases.  Tons of stores and websites paticipate. anywhere from  Wal-Mart to iTunes and Amazon!

Ebates Coupons and Cash Back

Click the Ebates  link above and you can start getting paid to shop too!

I know I say this all the time, but I really am going to try to start posting on here more frequently.  I have a lot of post ideas right now...I just need the time to be able to actually write them.

I hope you are all doing well!

"...All I Wanna Do is Fuckin' Sleep"

Well, you guys...things have been quite a bit crazy lately (quite literally...) seems if you go over 25 days without any sleep, you go a bit crazy.   Yep, 25 whole days and nights...not one little minute of sleep.  Not kidding.

Hence the lack of blog posts and photo uploads.

Because of this I missed The annual The Revolutioners Thanksgiving Eve show at Stickyz.

If you know me even the slightest bit you know that I was not a happy lady at all...I never miss them...I had always joked the only reason I would ever not go to a show of their's would be because I was dead.

It was getting bad, so I decided to check myself into a mental hospital to see if they could do anything to help.  Turns out that was a total waste of time, all they did was keep me for a week and gave me Ambien.

Ambien does nothing for me; except make me have really awful hallucinations.  They had to start giving me Geodon (medicine for Schizophrenia) because I was starting to hear voices, but that medicine made things worse, you know how you can have closed captioning turned on your TV? Well they were on at the hospital and instead of thinking my thoughts, I would see them appear as the closed captioning across the TV screen.

Scared the hell out of me.

While I was in the hospital I was phoneless, so I had no idea until my Dad came to visit that my beloved second home; Juanita's had decided to shut it's doors for good after 30 awesome years.

"Bath Salts" by Highly Suspect, describes very accurately (basically word for word) how I have been feeling for the last month or so, since the insomnia started back up before Thanksgiving.

I say started back up, because in 2010 I went a full 10 days with no sleep, seems I have a new record now.

"Bath Salts" Official Music Video

I am finally starting to sleep a little here and there at night.  Sleep about an hour then stay awake for four or five hours before falling asleep for another 30 minutes, just to wake up again and basically say fuck it, guess I'll just be awake for the day now.  At this point it is normally about 4 or 5 in the morning.

Those who know me well know that I am in no way whatsoever a morning person, as a teenager I would sleep all day until about 4 or 5 in the afternoon. wake up to eat and then go back to bed until the next morning.  Truth.

Before the insomnia hit me hard again a few weeks ago, I would generally wake up around 10:30 or noon-ish.

I have no idea what is causing this, but I wish it would go away.

I have tried basically everything and honestly the only thing that seems to help in even the smallest way is if I drink a cup of Sleepytime Green Tea before trying to go to bed.

Back to the whole Juanita's situation...

Highly Suspect was the last "big" band to ever play Juanita's'. If you read the last post I wrote, you know they played with my friends The Revolutioners.

Loads of fun at that show, I'll tell you about it soon, yes...I know I say that all the time and then forget to write, but this show was too good to not to tell you guys about.

"...This Band's Not Good, but They Don't Suck"

I have become addicted to a new band (new to me anyway.)

Highly Suspect.

Phil recommended that I download their album a few weeks ago, haven't been able to stop listening to it since.  He's always right when he makes music recommendations to me.

Lucky for me, Highly Suspect will be making a stop in Little Rock at Juanita's next month.  December 14th.  Can't'll be a good one.

If you haven't heard of them I highly recommend that you check them out.  My personal favorites are "Lydia", "Bath Salts" and "Claudeland"

Don't stop at just those three though, give the whole record a listen.  You'll love it!

The album is on iTunes; it's titled "Mister Asylum"

"Lydia" (Music Video)

"Bath Salts" (Music Video)

PS: Title of this post comes from lyrics of "Claudeland" you probably know that though if you just listened to the video I posted above.  If you didn't listen to it, what are you waiting for? Do it now.

Capes, Top Hats and Long Sleeve Pants

Last night was um, well...very interesting to say the least.  Went to Juanita's to see Aranda play with Theory Of A Deadman.

Not gonna lie, went to the show solely for Aranda.  Never been much of a Theory fan.

First up was a band that I had never heard of; Artifas.  They have good stage presence, but I'm not quite sure that they are my type; to be honest.

Next up was Aranda.  Love those boys, never going to get tired of seeing them play.  Dameon is still on vocal rest, doctor's orders.    The Aranda brothers still pull off a fantastic show despite the fact that Dameon isn't allowed to let his vocals shine.  However, he is still killer on the guitar.  I gotta say though I can't wait til he gets cleared to sing again.   Nothing like seeing Aranda in full effect.  So much energy, and always a fun show, whether you are seeing them for the first time...or the millionth.

Aranda's set seemed to be a bit rushed and cut short.  Totally not a fan of that...I'd watch them play forever if I could.

Shaman's Harvest was on the bill too.  I've seen them a few times, they put on a good show.  They do an awesome cover of Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana"  I'm gonna have to start listening to them more often for sure.

Lead singer has a pretty amazing head of hair.  Totally capable of pulling off a nice man bun with all that hair.  Hair can either make or break a photo for me.  Either it is always in the artist's face and each shot comes back looking a bit Cousin It-ish; or if you play your cards could come back with some really cool hair flinging shots. With Shaman's Harvest I seem to have captured both.

Then It was time for Theory Of A Deadman to hit the stage, all of Juanita's seemed to go crazy with excitement.

I swear that was quite literally the loudest show I have been to so far, very loud crowd.  Wish I would've had some ear plugs.  I need to invest in a pair of those, with as often as I go to shows.  Always front row, at that.  Shame on me for not already owning a set of them.

I must admit, I did end up enjoying TOADM a bit more than I thought I was going to, with that being said, still don't like them.

Quite a few of their songs just seem to rub me the wrong way and the lyrics just make them sound like complete and total assholes.

For example "Bitch Came Back" HATE that damn repetitive. The lyrics are complete crap.

"The bitch came back the very next day
Oh the bitch came back thought she was a goner
But the bitch came back she couldn't stay away
Don't you know the bitch came back
I like her so much better when she's down on her knees
Cause when she's in my face that's when I'm starting to see
That all my friends are laughing thinking that we belong
Well she's so fucking stupid that shes singing along
The trouble with girls is they're all the same
Forget the diamonds and pearls they just want a ring
Before you know it you're like a dog on a leash
Well you can try and change the world but you won't change me."

Repeat all of the words above 5 times and then the song finally comes to an end.

...and then there is " Hate My Life"

"So sick of the hobos always begging for change
I don't like how I gotta work and
They just sit around and get paid
I hate all of the people who can't drive their cars.
Bitch you better get outta the way
Before I start falling apart

I hate how my wife is always up my ass
She always wants to buy brand new things
But I don't have the cash.

I hate my job, all of my rich friends
I hate everyone to the bitter end.
Nothing turns out right There's no end in sight
I hate my life!''

Also can't stand this song...well because, um just read the lyrics.   There they go again sounding like asses.

Sorry if you are finding this post to be a bit harsh, but I don't really care.  I am allowed to voice my opinion.  If you are a big fan of theirs, power to you. No judgement.   I'm just not feeling it.

I've always been completely honest on here and I intend to keep it that way.

Now they do have a few songs that I do like.  Such as "Bad Girlfriend", "So Happy", "Heaven (Little By Little)  plus a few more that I can't think of right now.

After the show is pretty much always my favorite part.  Getting to talk to and hang out with a lot of the musicians that I go see perform on a pretty regular basis.  Many of which have become good friends of mine through the years.

Gabe Aranda had on a shirt that featured Marilyn Monroe sporting a basketball jersey, I am a big Marilyn Monroe fan...telling him this, Gabe replies "Yeah, she's hot!"  Which then lead us to talk about how she probably isn't all that hot now; you know with her being all decomposed and whatnot. Morbid, Yeah, I know.  Oh well.

A little bit later, Dameon, Sydney (a friend of mine, who also happens to be one of the main reasons I became a photographer) and I went outside.

This is where everything starts to get...interesting.

I seem to have this problem where I drop everything, like...all the time.  So, cue me dropping my purse.  Dameon; being the big sweetheart that he is, picked it up and carried it for me until we were no longer on the sloping ramp that leads into Juanita's. Had he not done that, I probably would of just dropped it again, cause I'm just good at life like that.

No, that's not the interesting part; I just thought it was nice so I figured I would mention it.

We talked to Dameon for a little while longer, until he had to go help the rest of the band finish loading up.

Night time in Little Rock can get dangerous, so Sydney didn't want to leave me alone while waiting on my ride to come pick me up.

This, this is when stuff gets interesting.

Sydney and I were just sitting there talking about photography, clothes and other random stuff.

When just suddenly this guy comes up, and just starts talking to us...proceeds to sit on the bench beside Sydney (he's quite drunk.)

While he is talking to us, Sydney and I burst out laughing, because out of nowhere comes another guy just walking down the street in a cape and top hat, just going on about his life like his outfit was no big thing. cause that's no, did Halloween come early and we were not, what is this? I might not be remembering correctly...but I believe it was a white suit with a red and blue cape and matching top hat.

Meanwhile, drunk guy thinks we are laughing at him.  When in truth, I'm pretty sure both of us were trying to ignore him with everything we had.

He refused to be ignored. Kept going on about where he was from (Chicago...I think?) Whatever. Then about how the weather here differs from there. Ok, cool.  What are you weatherman or something? Let it go dude.

Then he starts talking about wearing shorts, then sometimes it's cold so you have to wear long sleeve pants. LONG SLEEVE PANTS?!?

That's pretty much where both Sydney and I seemed to lose our shit.   Probably the hardest I have laughed in a while.  Pants.  Honey...just pants.  Last I checked pants don't have sleeves.  Goodnees! Leg holes, maybe; but no sleeves.

Then drunk guy (Jason...I don't know, maybe but I do remember his name started with a J)  asks to borrow a phone, so he could find out what happened to the cab he says he had called to come get him over an hour ago.

Cab company answers and he tells them to come pick up The Captain.  He has now apparently dubbed himself The ok, whatever.

Then he grabs my hand and starts kissing all up on it...didn't really see that one coming.  Sydney almost had to beat him away with her Theory of A Deadman drumstick, she had it at the ready.  Didn't have to use it though.  Since his cab had finally arrived.  Before leaving he leans over to me and says "They just don't want us to be together."

I said nothing to this. I was slightly confused.

They? They who? The cab No. We both just want you to get in the car and go on your merry little way.

Honestly one of the best times I've had at Juanita's in a while.

Little Rock, you full of crazy.
